Operating a large coaching enterprise? Consider the mobile coaching software from Nudge.

They offer custom solutions to improve client communication and delivery of your programming. The Nudge platform helps you to check in with clients more often, increasing participation and adherence, and fostering achievement.

The software helps to manage your client list, billing, class/session scheduling, and emails. You can even get your own, branded mobile app (in their most expensive plan). It is a very popular system for yoga studios, health clubs, and spas.

Pricing starts at $125/month and tops out at $395/month.

NutriAdmin claims to be “the only software you will ever need to run your practice,” which is a very bold claim, but it does offer a long list of features to back that up. The HIPAA-compliant software offers a CRM to maintain client records, a nutritional database for crafting meal plans, a recipe database, help with scheduling and reminders, client questionnaires, and more.

Apps for Miscellaneous Administrative Tasks

If you don’t need a full business management software, here are some individual apps that you’ll probably find helpful.


Doodle offers quick and easy scheduling for group meetings. There is a free version. (The $49/year premium version adds additional features.)

Maybe you do pop-up group fitness classes? This could help coordinate everyone.

If you have a busy, hectic schedule, you’ll appreciate the Due app. It makes it lightning-fast to set reminders for whatever you have due in the next hour, the next day, or any specific time. And it will keep reminding you until you get it done.

It’s the quickest to-do list app out there. You do have to pay $4.99 for it. Available for iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

IFTTT – short for “if this, then that” – is the free way to get all your apps and devices talking to each other. I’d consider it a productivity app, but you can use it to automate just about anything.

For example, you can automate your social media posting. Let’s say you post photos and videos on Instagram. You can use IFTTT to automatically post those videos to Twitter and Facebook.

You can get weather alerts contingent upon tomorrow’s forecast. So perhaps you’ll set up an alert for anytime there is freezing rain in the forecast, at which point you can notify clients that it might be hazardous to drive in to their session.

You can automatically save email attachments from GMail to Google Drive. And the list goes on. And yes, it’s all free!

Ascend (for Lose It!)

The Ascend app lets you monitor your clients’ Lose It! accounts – excellent if your clients are using the free Lose It! app for tracking their food intake! You can easily review clients’ food logs and monitor their progress. The app even allows for direct messaging between you and your clients.

Cronometer is a fantastic free app your clients can use to track their eating habits. With Cronometer Pro, you can access all your clients’ nutrition data in one place!

A starter plan for managing up to five clients is $12.95 per month. The next plan up allows you to manage up to 25 clients for $49.95 per month. Custom plans are available for large institutions.

Coach’s Eye

Now this is super cool. The app facilitates video recording; essentially, clients record themselves exercising and then their coach gets to watch the video to critique their form.

This would be excellent for online personal trainers who need to check form, and even better for sports coaches looking at running gait, a golf swing, bike fit, and so much more.
